Men usually start to use skin care products once they start shaving and will start by using aftershave, cologne, body spray and deodorants and of course for their hair they may use a hair cream or hair gel. Some men may spend all their lives using just these two products on them and would not bother to experiment or change them. Men do get facials also done occasionally but that is basically to remove unwanted hair from the face or remove blackheads. Men may use a chap stick or a cream on their lips in case they get chapped in cold or dry weather, sportsmen, athletes use sun screens if they are exposed to the sun. Another common men skin problem is getting razor burns and this happens when men tend to shave against the growth of the hair. Also acne and pimples occur when the shaved hair curls back into the skin. If a man has acne prone skin then finding the right shaving soap or shaving gel can be quite a task. Men usually apply an aftershave lotion, cologne or an aftershave cream to prevent any irritation to the shaved area and also to give off a nice fragrance. Deodorants are used under the armpits and an occasional spray across the chest. The deodorant may have an antiperspirant to prevent sweat stains from appearing on the clothes and also prevent sweating. In case of a man who has sensitive skin they would opt to use natural man skin care products.

There are skin care products for black men also and there is no black man, white man products for skin care. The aftershaves, deodorants, are the same it is only in the hair department that their hair needs more care then that of white men. A plus point with black men is that they tend to show signs of aging later in life then do white men. Because their hair is stronger it tends not to thin or turn grey. That is why one rarely sees a bald black man. Some young black men like to groom their hair in the afro style and others like to keep them short. Also their preference in after shaves, deodorants and perfumes varies as they like fragrances that are stronger.
