The cosmetic industry is chockablock with facial skin care brands and each trying to out sell the other and why not? It is a billion dollar industry and any cosmetic company that wants to survive in this cutthroat industry has to try and out sell and out advertise the other competitors. There are of course the old players who are well known household names globally and there are new entrants and other entrants who have failed in this industry. Since women have been using make up from time immemorial and it was in the 19th century that brand names started becoming popular and women would associate and trust certain brands over other brands and would give a priority to them. Some women just stick to a particular skin care brand and are not willing to go for a change. Ponds and Olay are two names that are recognized around the world and can be found in virtually any country of the world. There are the high end designer cosmetic brands which are not affordable by common people.

Every facial skin care brand company has tried to make their own niche in the market and some over a wide range of facial skin care products and other stick with a particular line of products and don’t experiment with other products. Like other industries there are buy outs and collaborations that are formed among companies and companies that have an established name in the industry are eyed by other companies who try to get a share of these companies. Many small family businesses have been taken over by corporate giants and from local they have gone global. Many facial skin care brands have been launched by pharmacists and have gained fame because of their producing good products. Facial skin care brand companies closely guard their formulas and in some cases they are passed on from generation to generation without any change in them.

Use of natural ingredients and organic products has added a new dimension in facial skin care and brought in a host of new manufacturers in this industry and many established companies have started advertising natural ingredients in their skin care products. Use of harsh chemicals has taken a back seat and many are not approved by the government regulatory departments who have classed these ingredients as harmful.

As long as a woman buys a lip stick a foundation or any other facial skin care item the industry is going to keep on coming up with new items and products that they are going to market. Facial skin care starts from a soap and goes all the way up to foundations, concealers, etc with a number of items in between and beyond. That is why this is such a highly competitive industry. Facial skin care is also a very delicate business as what a customer purchases it is going to be applied to the skin and if there are any harmful products in it the company stands to go through colossal losses and possible closure of business. All the facial skin care companies have to make doubly sure that their products have no adverse affects. If they don’t work that is a different matter but adverse effects can spell disaster.

If one has found the right facial skin care brand that suits one then one is best advised to stick with it and not try to change it. There are plenty of companies that offer free samples and one can test a product before opening their wallets and spending hard earned cash on purchasing them. Buying off the internet has taken the market global and now skin care companies have to cater for a global and not a local market anymore.
